More than junk removal

We Don't Just Clear the Space. We Square It Away.

A removal service is finished when the truck is full.

That is one step of four, and it is the easy one.

Traditional removal asks

What do you want us to take away?

Haul unwanted items.

The truck leaves full and the space is empty. Empty is not the same as finished — everything you kept is still where you set it down.

Square Away asks

What do you want this space to become?

Sort, clear, organize, reset.

Four moves, in order, in the same visit. What leaves is loaded, and what stays gets a place before we go.

  • One-person accountability

The same owner-operator, start to finish.

  • Thoughtful organization

Grouped and stored around how you actually live.

  • Careful handling

Your belongings are moved and sorted with respect.

  • Truck available

Hauling, dump runs, and donation drops in the same visit.

  • Efficient work

Steady pace, clear decisions, no wandering hours.

  • Practical solutions

Sensible storage instead of expensive custom systems.

How it works

A reset in four moves, not a pile of hours.

Every job runs the same four moves, so you know what the day looks like before anyone picks anything up.

  1. Sort

We go through the space with you and separate what stays, what can be donated, and what has to go.

  2. Clear

Everything you're letting go gets carried out and loaded — furniture, boxes, yard equipment, the lot.

  3. Organize

What stays gets a logical home: grouped by how you actually use it, on shelves, hooks, and labelled bins.

  4. Reset

The floor gets swept and the space gets handed back usable — park in it, work in it, walk through it.

Those four moves are the day itself. Getting to it is simpler: send a few photos of the space, we confirm the scope and come back with a clear quote, and the project is scheduled once you approve it. No pressure, and nothing is committed before you have the number.

Services

Four things, done together.

Most jobs use more than one of these in a single visit. That is the point — you shouldn't need one company to remove things and another to make the space work again.

Our flagship service

The Full Square Away

From cluttered to functional in one coordinated reset.

You start with a garage you park outside of.

You finish with a clean, organized space you can walk into, park in and actually use.

What the $699 buys

Removal prices buy the truck. This buys the sorting decisions, the organizing, and the space being set back up — with hauling and a donation run inside the same job rather than being the whole of it.

Final pricing depends on the scope of the job, so this is a starting point rather than a package to buy sight unseen. Send a few photos, we confirm what the space needs, and a clear quote comes back before anything is scheduled.

An organized garage after a full reset: clear floor, wall shelving and labelled bins.
Starting at$699

Included in the price

  • Sorting the whole space with you, item by item
  • Cleanout of everything that is leaving
  • Organization of everything that stays
  • Hauling of what has to be disposed of

  • Shelving and storage set up where it makes sense
  • A final sweep and reset so the space is ready to use

Reviews

No reviews yet — we're new. Rather than borrow someone else's, this space stays empty until real customers fill it, with their name and their permission. The first few garages we do are the ones that will be here.

How decisions get made

Keep. Donate. Dispose.

Every item in the space takes one of three paths, and you make the calls. What you keep gets organized back into the space, what you donate we load and drive, and only the third path leaves as waste.

  • Path 01

    Keep

    Organize

Stays with you, in a spot that makes sense for how you use the space.

Organizing what stays is part of the job, not an add-on.

    Destination

    Organized back into the space

  • Path 02

    Donate

    Remove

Still usable, so we load it and drive it to a local donation site rather than a landfill.

    Destination

Driven to a local donation site

  • Path 03

    Dispose

    Haul

Past its life. Loaded up and taken away.

    Destination

    Hauled out, as waste

One project, several stages

We can help across the whole move.

A move isn't one job — it's a run of them, spread over weeks. Ask us for a single stage on its own, or hand us several: it's the same person quoting it and the same truck showing up, so nothing gets re-explained halfway through.

  1. Clean out

Work through the garage, shed or spare room and decide what is actually going with you.

  2. Organize

What stays gets grouped, shelved and labelled — so it packs and unpacks as a system.

  3. Donate & dispose

A donation run for what is still usable, a disposal run for what is not.

  4. Prepare for the move

Box, label and stage what is going, so loading day is not a scramble.

  5. Moving help

Loading, unloading, heavy furniture, and local transport assistance.

  6. Set up the new space

Garage, storage areas and shelving built out so the new place starts organized.

We're not a licensed household-goods moving company and we don't do long-distance moves — this is hands-on help and local transport assistance around Virginia Beach. More about moving help.

Who you're hiring

Local. Owner-operated. Personal.

Square Away is local and owner-operated, based in Southern Virginia Beach. You deal directly with the person doing the work — the same one who walks the space, writes the estimate and turns up on the day. No rotating crew, no subcontractor, nobody in between.

That matters more than it sounds. A reset means someone going through your things with you, asking what stays, what can be donated and what goes. It should be someone who treats your house the way they'd want theirs treated, works at a steady pace, and tells you straight what something will cost.

And what you're hiring is a method, not a truck and a price list. Every job runs the same four moves — sort, clear, organize, reset — with the scope worked out for your space rather than by how much of a load it fills. The price is agreed before we start.

What you pay for

The transformation, not the truckload. Every package buys work in the space — sorting alongside you, organizing what stays, leaving it usable. Hauling and disposal volume is quoted separately on top, so the truck and the transformation never hide inside one number.

How the final price is set

Every figure above is a starting point, not a price you can lock in from this page. You tell us about the space, we put a real number to it, and projects are scheduled once scope and availability are confirmed.

These are starting points, not instant-book prices — every job is quoted after we understand the actual space. Final pricing depends on the scope of the project, how much is being removed, the labour involved, hauling and disposal, heavy or awkward items, any materials or storage products you'd like us to pick up, and where you are. Dump and disposal fees and the cost of purchased materials are billed separately and always confirmed with you before we buy anything. A large or heavily packed space can run longer than a single day — if that looks likely, we will say so in the estimate rather than at the end of it.

Questions, answered.

Getting a quote

  • How does getting a quote work?

You send us the details and a few photos of the space, we work out the scope, and we come back with an estimate and any questions. Nothing is scheduled or charged at that point — the estimate comes first, you decide, and the project is scheduled once the scope and availability are confirmed. There is no pressure and no obligation at any stage.

  • Do you need to visit before you can quote?

Usually not. Photos of the space are normally enough to work out scope, so most estimates happen without anyone coming out — which is faster for you as well as for us. If a project is unusual, very large, or something in the photos needs a closer look, we will say so and arrange to see it in person before quoting.

  • Can I book a package straight away?

No, and that is deliberate. We do not take payment for a package before we have seen what the job actually involves — quoting a fixed number for a garage nobody has looked at is how people end up with surprise charges or a crew that runs out of day. Send the details, get an estimate, then decide.

How it works

  • How is this different from junk removal?

A removal service answers one question: what do you want taken away? It is priced by how much fills the truck, and the job is finished when the truck is full. We answer a different one: what do you want this space to become? Sorting, organizing and setting the space back up are part of the job, not an extra — hauling is one of four moves rather than the whole service. If emptying the space really is all you need, a removal truck is the cheaper call and we will say so.

  • Do I need to organize anything before you arrive?

No. Sorting is the first thing we do together, and nothing needs to be staged or tidied first. Showing us the space exactly as it is actually helps — it's easier to plan around the real problem.

  • Can you help me decide what to keep?

That's most of the job. We work alongside you, ask practical questions about how you use the space, and keep decisions moving without pressure. Nothing leaves without your say-so.

  • How long does a garage reset usually take?

A small area is often a couple of hours. A packed two-car garage is typically a half-day to a full day, depending on how much is being removed and how many decisions there are to make.

What happens to your things

  • What happens to items you remove?

Everything takes one of three paths: it stays and gets organized, it goes on a donation run because it is still usable, or it is disposed of. We keep usable things out of a landfill wherever it is practical.

  • Can usable items be donated?

Yes. Donation runs to local drop-off sites are a normal part of a reset. If the receiving organization provides a receipt, we'll pass it along to you.

  • Is there anything you can't take?

We don't handle hazardous materials — paint, chemicals, solvents, fuel, asbestos, or similar. Those need a licensed disposal route, and we'll tell you where to take them. Some heavy or specialty items (appliances, tires, mattresses) carry their own disposal fees, which we quote separately.

Scope and equipment

  • Can you help assemble shelving?

Yes. Assembly and setup of freestanding shelving, racks, and common storage products is part of the organize step. This is assembly and placement, not licensed electrical, plumbing, or structural work.

  • Do you provide bins or shelving?

We can pick them up on your behalf, or work with what you already own. Purchased products are billed at cost and always confirmed with you before we buy.

  • Can you move heavy items?

Yes, with the right straps and dollies. Heavy or awkward pieces affect the quote, so it helps to mention them when you get in touch.

  • Do you handle disposal runs?

Yes. Truck-assisted dump runs are available. Dump and disposal fees are quoted separately from labor, because facilities charge by weight and material.

  • Can you help me prepare for a move?

Yes, and it is one of the most useful times to call. We can declutter and clear before the move so you are not paying to transport things you do not want, box and label what is going, help load and unload, and set the garage and storage up at the new place.

Pricing and area

  • What areas do you serve?

We're based in Southern Virginia Beach — Red Mill, Strawbridge, Ocean Lakes, Lago Mar, the General Booth corridor, the Sandbridge area, Pungo and the neighborhoods around them — and that is where most of our work is. Service is expanding throughout Virginia Beach as we grow. If you're nearby and not sure, send your ZIP code with your quote request and we'll tell you straight.

  • What if I'm outside Southern Virginia Beach?

Ask. Other parts of Virginia Beach are jobs we take on as the schedule allows, and the estimate will say plainly if travel is part of it. Beyond the city line isn't something we're set up for as a regular service yet — but if you're close and the job is a good fit, send the details and we'll give you an honest answer rather than a stretched one.

  • Why is this more than a load-based junk removal price?

Because a different amount of work is happening. Load pricing covers carrying things out and driving them away. Our packages cover going through the space with you, clearing what is leaving, organizing what stays, and setting the space back up — plus the removal itself. The hauling and disposal portion is quoted separately on top, so you can see which part of the price is the truck and which part is the transformation.

  • How is pricing determined?

The packages give you a starting point. The final number depends on scope, volume, heavy items, disposal requirements, travel, and any storage products you want. You get a clear estimate before any work begins, and if a space looks like more than one day we say so up front.
